How It Works
Using your library card number, you can log on from computers at home or at the library, and enter the grade level and subject you need help in.
You’ll work with a tutor using chat and an interactive white board. You can type math equations using a special math tool and share files and websites.
About the Tutors
Tutors are hired by Brainfuse and are required to have four-year college degrees. Preference is given to certified teachers and people with prior tutoring experience. Tutors are tested for proficiency in their subject areas and for the ability to convey ideas clearly online. They are trained in Brainfuse’s instructional methodology and New Hampshire educational standards, and receive ongoing professional development.
A Safe Online Environment
Before being hired, tutors undergo a criminal background check, and Brainfuse contacts all references and previous employers. No personal information is obtained from the student during tutoring. Brainfuse monitors and evaluates their tutors’ work both live and through review of transcripts.
Many features are available 24/7, but if you want to see how live tutoring works when the service is not open, try this demo.
You may ask a librarian in the Children’s Room or at the Reference Desk to give you a quick demonstration of HelpNow!, the Adult Learning Center, or JobNow!
