
Reference ServicesThe reference department provides walk-in, telephone, e-mail and mail reference services. The department maintains a large collection of fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers, microfilm (of various newspapers,) New Hampshire State Documents and up-to-date reference sources. The Hunt Room contains historical and genealogical materials, and our interlibrary loan services allow customers to borrow material from other libraries.
Nashua Public Library customers may obtain materials from other libraries in New Hampshire as well as from other United States libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Materials borrowed from libraries within the state generally will arrive within a week to ten days. Books from out-of-state may take longer. Some university or special libraries may charge lending fees. Items owned by the Nashua Public Library; new books; rare, fragile, or books in high demand may not be requested. Requests may be made at the Reference Desk, over the phone or online using this form. Customers are notified by phone or email when items are received. These items are held for customers at the main circulation desk. New Hampshire State Documents The Nashua Public Library is designated as a State Depository Library. Documents published by state agencies are stored and maintained by the Reference Department for in-library use by patrons. Documents which are received by the library include New Hampshire House and Senate journals and calendars and information on pending bills; publications regarding New Hampshire schools sent out by the State Education Department; and employment and wage and salary information. |
